The Princess of Peace and Self-Sacrifice

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari - Hindu deity illustration showing the sacred fire (agni) and the crown

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari was a brave and beautiful princess who is worshipped as a deity. She taught the world the values of peace, non-violence, and self-respect. When a powerful king wanted to marry her against her will and threatened to wage a war, she chose to protect her people by sacrificing herself in a sacred fire, showing that standing for truth is more important than life itself.

She is primarily worshipped by the Vysya community. Her main festival is Vasavi Jayanti, which celebrates her birthday with prayers, processions, and charity.
